Research in the Sparks Lab focuses on the function, development, and environmental regulation of brace roots.
Our work primarily focuses on the stem-borne brace roots of maize and sorghum. Brace roots, as predicted by their name, are suggested to play an important role in structural stability. However, we know very little about these roots – their function, development, or response to the environment.
